If you don't know these people you are about to.
They have seriously touched my life in so many ways.
She was my first WCW on Instagram, 63 weeks ago and this is what I said about her then...
"#wcw @alyona_elena_alekhina_key she is so #beautiful inside and out. So talented! #snowboarding #skateboarding #piano #intelligent #drive #passionate #strength even through her accident last year her strength amazes me. &on May 6th 2013 she married the most amazing man @williamryankey making her the luckiest women I haven't had the liberty of meeting yet. She is so #inspiring &has overcome more than I could ever handle. Keep being you because you are more wonderful than you know ❤"
Andddddddddddd guess what, .... she commented on it!!!!!!!!!
I mean all she said was "Thank you" but I was so excited. She took time out of her life to comment on my Instagram post!
She is a Russian snowboarder, who also loves skateboarding, went to music school, plays the piano and is a translator who speaks English, French and Spanish, among all the other great things she is. Honestly The first time I heard of her it was because she was dating Ryan Key and I love love love Ryan Key so I had to do some research. I instantly fell in love with her as well, they are so perfect together. I'll explain shortly.
What's really so amazing about her is her spirit and determination.
In early 2013 Alyona had a tragic snowboarding accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down.
She spent a lot of time in the ICU, it's almost been 2 years exactly since it happened and this picture is her 6 weeks ago. Still fighting everyday to one day be able to walk again.
William Ryan Key is the lead vocalist and guitarist of Yellowcard. My favorite band, if you didn't already know.
When Ryan got the phone call about Alyona's accident, the band was in the middle of recording Ocean Avenue Acoustic, for Ocean Avenue's 10 year anniversary. Like in the booth at the time, literally in the middle of recording. And like the amazing person he is, he immediately stopped and went to be by her side.
The Producer on the album packed up the studio and set it up in one of the hotel rooms at the hospital and that is where they recorded between visits to the ICU. That is true dedication, to his wife and to his music, and it makes me kind of emotional to think about.
This is obviously them while in the hospital, they're are so beautiful I don't even know how to put it into words. Honestly, there isn't a lot of there about their lives, I get most of my information from her Instagram account and the few interviews Ryan has had that are posted online. I see her struggle pretty much weekly and it's truly heart wrenching. What she went through, being in the ICU for so long and the daily life of trying her hardest to over come her injury, she really is so inspiring. As is Ryan for being so dedicated and loving through this trying time for both of them.
They just prove that true love prevails, that no matter what happens or where life takes you, if you really love someone you will make it work, because it matters. Neither one of their careers have ever been more important than their relationship, they actually have a balance that is amazing and I'm sure it doesn't seem like it to them all the time but it shows in their lives. I can only imagine the struggles and hardships they go through, but they make it through because they tackle them together.
